Watching The Birds
Papercutting has been practised for centuries and has it's roots in the European folk art tradition, but for me it is a totally new medium and has taken my work off in a very new direction.

I have tried to bring it up-to-date by using my imagination and my usually stylization to depict the things around me that I feel would work well as pictures. Inspiration is all around me, people and nature. Trees, birds and flowers tend to be a constant in my work, too many trees at times, but they are beautiful and a challenge to depict! Figures appear frequently, surrounded by nature of course, and sometimes in ever so slightly romantic situations.

My work is not challenging to the mind, it is gentle and hopefully a little funny at times. It is meant to make the viewer smile not frown.
